Treating Stains

Always hold your bouquet just a bit in front of you to avoid staining your dress.  If the unthinkable happens, however, try the following:

If the stain is small or easily hidden in the folds of your gown, just leave it alone.  If it’s a sizable stain that just has to go, dab it with cool water or club soda on a white absorbent cloth; place another white cloth underneath to absorb both the water and the stain.  Never rub - this will only force the stain deeper into the fabric (Don’t try this on silk or rayon - even if you remove the stain, you’ll wind up with a permanent watermark; be patient and wait until you can have it dry-cleaned).

For an emergency cover-up, try talcum powder, cornstarch, or another white powder.

Have the dress cleaned professionally within a few weeks of the wedding; be sure to point out any significant stains.
